“This was a self guided tour. Meeting point was outside coffee shop and ticket included juice and croissant from there before the tour. The guide enabled shorter queuing and he was with us until the elevator and then we ‘self toured’. The views from outside are amazing and inside the basilica dome is beautiful - so much to look at. The basilica itself was so busy with large groups that it was difficult to take the beauty in and you got ‘swept along’ in the tide of people - so much so that we didn’t see the entrance to the resting place of the popes and missed that part.
